What you’ll do
The Head of Architecture is a strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and overseeing the company’s enterprise architecture landscape. This role leads a team of architects across domains and ensures that all technology solutions align with business strategy. As Head of Architecture you will own the enterprise architecture repository, drive the adoption of modeling tools like Structurizr and AMDB, and collaborate closely with the CTO to support innovation, governance, and change management.
Your tasks will include:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of architects (application, software, infrastructure) to ensure cohesive architectural strategies.
Define and evolve the enterprise architecture practice, including standards, methodologies, and modeling frameworks (e.g., C4 model).
Own and maintain the enterprise architecture repository using tools such as Structurizr and AMDB, ensuring accurate representation of business processes, software systems, and infrastructure.
Collaborate with the CTO to align architecture initiatives with strategic business goals and innovation roadmaps.
Define and maintain mappings between business processes, software systems, containers, and infrastructure, enabling impact analysis and traceability.
Support integration with operational tools (e.g., Jira AMDB) to ensure seamless linkage between architecture and infrastructure.
Establish and enforce IT governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with architectural principles and standards.
Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide architectural guidance, and support change management initiatives.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of architectural decisions, roadmaps, and standards.
Assist in identifying and analyzing potential risks related to enterprise architecture and IT systems. Contribute to the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, maintain accurate documentation of risk assessments, monitor key risk indicators, and ensure adherence to risk management policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and internal risk frameworks by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks in alignment with regulatory expectations and company policies.
Job requirements
What makes you a great fit
Proven experience in enterprise architecture leadership within complex, large-scale environments.
Deep understanding of architectural domains (application, infrastructure, security, data, integration) and modeling tools like Structurizr, AMDB, and Jira.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
TOGAF, Zachman, or similar enterprise architecture certifications (highly desirable).
Familiarity with the C4 model and structured architecture modeling approaches.
Strong analytical skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
Ability to define long-term architecture strategies while addressing immediate tactical needs.
Strong team leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Passion for emerging technologies and continuous improvement.
Fluent in English and either Dutch or French
